On the first day of D-Day the British and Canadians reached their objectives were getting nowhere. Ever thought of that one before ?
Americans were NOT INVOLVED IN ANY operations in the Netherlands north of the River Rhine and there they had only been part of Operation Market Garden and Operation Berlin and some smaller operations South of the main rivers and in Limburg. It was the Canadian First Army that liberated the Netherlands.
And yes: I consider the liberations by the Soviets to be liberations as well as so did the people in Eastern Europe back then.

You are most welcome!
Thank-you giving us back our maternity ward too.
"Princess Margrit was born in Ottawa, Ontario, as the family had been living in Canada since June 1940 after the occupation of the Netherlands by Nazi Germany. The maternity ward of Ottawa Civic Hospital in which Princess Margriet was born was temporarily declared to be extraterritorial by the Canadian government.[2] Making the maternity ward outside of the Canadian domain caused it to be unaffiliated with any jurisdiction and technically international territory. This was done to ensure that the newborn Princess would derive her citizenship from her mother only, thus making her solely Dutch."
Our son was born there 53.5 years later.

True, and it couldn't, lets not forget we are talking about a country on the magnitude of 10x smaller than the US, population wise.
Civis is talking about the liberation of the Neatherlands, there was also more that Canada did for the Dutch, the Dutch princess was born in Ottawa during ww2 while Canada housed the royal family and changed laws so she could retain Dutch citizenship. But, for the Neatherlands, Canada, along with Dutch troops, were the ones who liberated the Neatherlands.
Lets not detract from the contributions of others eh.

I think Joe should get a paycheck from the Chinese MSS. He never lets an opportunity to increase the anti-American sentiment here go.

Well, let's thank Canada for singlehandedly kicking Nazi Germany out of the Netherlands. I mean, it had nothing to do with the US being virtually everywhere else on the western front, or anything. Canada could easily have defeated the full bulk of the German forces all by itself if it had had to.
