Yes, many Britons can look like Southern Europeans. And indeed; 'southern Europeans' is diverse. You can have a dark Brit and a blond Southern European.
4% of them at most really. It still doesn't make any sense to put the Irish or the Welsh in the same category as fucking Moroccans.

    What's the reason for this?

It was based on myths of how Celtic people looked like. However actual studies were made, those myths were finally broken. When they found out that most of these so - called “dark Celts” were for the most part as light - eyed as any Northern European land or even more so ( in the Irish case), then things changed. They also found out skin complexion is actually lighter in Ireland than even Anglo - Saxon England. Also that the most common eye color in Wales was blue, despite the fact that most Welsh were usually brown - haired , everything changed. The same way, Germans were portrayed earlier only as Nordics, which was false, as many were found to be Alpine, Dinarics, Subnordids, Baltic or Cromagnids. To the point that proper Nordics whether of Iron Age or Scandinavian ones were said to be in a minority. Brachycephaly was a lot more common in Germany than say countries lying north of it.

I've heard the theory that the last Europeans in Iberian peninsula were so called “Chad Spaniards”. Unfortunately, they all died during the conquest of Latin America and were replaced by the Moors. Cristiano Al-Andalusian who thinks he is descendant of Chad Spaniards in fact has nothing to do with them who were white people unlike Cristiano. What we have in the end. Chad Spaniards killed over 100 millions native Americans turned latin America into a racial shithole themselves have died in a foreign land and were replaced by Moors in Spain. It’s called karma.

I strongly disagree. At least 20% could be mistaken for any southern Europe. Brown eyes and hair are not uncommon in the British.

Dark haired/eyed Brits still look Northern for the most part. Sure, a good amount of them can pass in Southern Europe but they wouldn't be the most typical.

Because they are "Celtic". I refer to their ancestry and not identity, which I believe that is ~the same for all of Britain and Ireland. But at the time there was the thought that there are different ancestral origins for different groups and since Celts where as far south as Iberia, they should all be Med. To an extent excusable since people didn't travel nearly as much or had the same exposure to the whole world as we do. But they were anthropologists, so in this instance it was bad work...

It is not bad work per se there is a mesolithic-neolithic atlanto-med strain , in Britain, sometimes accompanied by a secondary teviec med strain that gets expressed through a nordish chrysalis i.e. Atlantid, North-Atlantid and Paleo-Atlantids.

There has been a long campaign to Medicise or 'Atlanticise' the British Isles in particular.
