Really? Actually, Hirisplex S was updated in 2018, and it tests lots of snps, not solely the light skin alleles SLC24A5 and SLC45A2. So, it checks other alleles that contribute to pigmentation as well, which the HIrisPLex model is based on. Thus, this tool is supposed to be much more accurate than just using SLC24A5 and SLC45A2 alone. Hence, for instance, if a European is homogeneous for SLC24A5, and ancestral for SLC45A2, but also carries OCA2, and ASIP that are associated with darker skin color, it means that this person is rather "very dark". That’s what versed people in genetics told me. However, the Hirisplex S category "dark" isn't that dark, very dark to black is not SSA-like either. Besides, I heard from people who used this predictor that it's accurate. However, I wonder how accurate Hirisplex S is for predicting the eye and skin color of ancient people? Do you have any idea?
