Funny meme, but in reality....out of the 5.3m that are registered to vote, 1.3m voted for pro-independence parties. Which happen to be 24% of voters, and only 17% of the population in Catalonia. Far from the majority. However, there are also enough influential separatists that the whole education system in Catalonia has been stacked to encourage kids to speak Catalonian in lieu of Spanish and think of themselves as being different, when in the natural course of things kids would forget about it because they are content just being like everybody else.

I have lived in Catalonia for quite some time personally, my girlfriend was born and raised in this region and has many family members here....they all feel 100% Spanish and so do most other people I know - its an exaggeration.
