Default What are your favourite classical composers? Do you listen to classical music?

I like classical music very much but in smaller doses.

My favourite composers are: Ravel, Chopin, Alkan (bonkers piano pieces), Satie, Honegger (I love his ominous 5th Symphony), Schubert, Prokofiev, Rimsky-Korsakov, Gliere, Rachmaninoff, Saint-Saëns, Rautavaari (20th century), Debussy, Rebecca Clark (her viola sonata is so underrated, it is 20th century already and she was a woman, maybe that's why). Medtner (nice piano sonatas), Schnittke are very underrated.

I love classical music featuring heavily instruments like viola, horns, cello, harp. I find violin overrated, too quickly can give me a bad headache.

I dislike out of famous composers or can't connect with: Mozart, Brahms, Bach. I don't care for Beethoven or Mahler.

I see that you love Stravinsky, lol. For me Prokofiev or Rachmaninoff are even better, both clearly in my top 10 of classical composers that I know of.

This piece for piano of Ravel is astonishing. Very beautiful but also tremendously difficult to play I read. The first part - Ondine is otherworldly.

Indeed, indeed. This is personally my favorite work of Ravel:

Oh, and with my ranking, don't take it as being sorted from most to least favorite, they are just listed in the order I remembered the composers while writing the post....I like them all pretty much equally .

Stravinsky + fanboy sounds like an unusual collocation for sure, huh.
