This peculiar phenomenon exists in Germany. And there also different West- and East German variants of it. It´s called "Indianer kultur". I never heard a thing like this in other European countries... Maybe because the books by the German writer Karl May.
But maybe they should "play" vikings or ancient Germanics instead. They to were viewed as "savages" by ancient Greeks and Romans.

It´s said that Native Americans got the status as "Honorary Aryans" in the Third Reich. Among leading nazis there was a big admiration of Native Americans.. So surprisingly, ironically, this was encouraged in this era..
