1000 years ago, but at least last 800 years northern europeans made the best Europe, and the best America, which is the one where i am from. Compare the USA or Canada with Mexico or Honduras, compare Germany or the UK with Spain or Greece. I have to admit that some italians had done great achievements for humanity, let's say Da Vinci or Galileo.
