Thought it was axel but my point still stands, Panama ain’t a Caribbean island no matter how much they feel they are. There’s areas along the Central American coast that have roots in the Caribbean but nobody calls the entire country Caribbean. Just because Central America has a cultural proximity to the Caribbean doesn’t mean they’re geographically Caribbean LMAO

Also every time someone doesn’t agree with something ok this sub, they start calling it a American/gringo thing just to take away it’s validity.

Their vicinity to the Eastern Antilles, which were never really settled by the Spaniard, so the Carib population there regularly attacked and/or found lodging on the island on a regular basis. Also, the late settlement/exploitation of the island in comparison with the bigger two (and Jamaica) means that the native population could benefit more from the leniency of the Leyes de Burgos protecting the Amerind. Lastly, there is the fact of the refugees from Hispaniola itself, both during the Conquest when the Amerinds of Higuey fled the island en masse, and later with the French and Haitian troubles, a good chunk of the colonists here fled to that island as well.
