Default Are Middle Eastern and Indian culture related?

IMO it does not surprise me that MENA and South Asia are confused for each other when it comes to cultural connotations. Just look at the following:

-Music sounds very similar between the two, think of snake charmers with that "eastern" twang

-Clothing also is very similar, lots of flash, shiny apparel and gold jewelry

-Both use headcloths and other types of rags

-Both of the women dance in revealing lingerie to their husbands

-Both are heavily honor-and-shame based societies

-Both are extremely religious and very spiritual

They seem to be almost cousins on so many levels, that the things they have in common can't be mere coincidences.

So why do so many Indians get offended when you confuse them for MENA? Obviously they are not, but why are they surprised when people confuse the two as the same?

Up to a point. The music in particular can sound strikingly similar. And in any case, Turks, Mughals and Persians have settled and invaded parts of South Asia at different times.

I almost never hear any kind of media/entertainment from South India. Guess they are outliers for the most part.

I think the main relation is through Islamic influence, which is huge for India of course, with its long history of invasions & migrations, & now containing the third largest Muslim population in the world, behind Pakistan (2nd) & Indonesia (1st), otherwise their native cultures seem to be quite independent.

Now let’s be gentlemen here folks

Clothes and principles( the respect shame thing and strong religious beliefs) but I think others are not so similar. No one likes the snake charmer instrument(pungi) . It was banned many times in past by many rulers. Do indians really get offended for being mistaken mena?? I don't know
