Default Which railway station is more useful: Peterborough or Reading?

From Peterborough, there are regular connections to Scotland (though mostly just Edinburgh - only a small number of trains go to Glasgow, Aberdeen or Inverness), the North of England, the Midlands, East of England, Surrey, Sussex (including Gatwick Airport) and London.

From Reading, there are regular connections to South Wales, Southwest England, the West Midlands, Northwest England, Oxfordshire, rest of Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex (including Gatwick Airport) and London (including Heathrow Airport). (Crosscountry previously also ran trains to Yorkshire and NE England, but they have stopped since the pandemic began).

For me, Reading as it has more routes which are useful for me, and I would guess most people in the south of England. Couldn't care about having a direct route to Scotland or North England, could just change at somewhere like Birmingham. It's also one of the best train-stations I've been to which is impressive considering Reading is only a town.

Yes as a native of Reading, I love its huge and beautiful train station too. Where do you live if I may ask?

I spent most of my childhood in Leicester and that is usually where I say I am originally from, but I was born in Reading and lived there till I turned 5.

Peterborough, you can go to the North, to east Anglia and to Scotland, you can even get to the west Midlands too, it is also located nearer the centre of England so you can be up in Yorkshire in an hour and in the Notts /Leis/Derby conurbation in less. I would say Peterborough is more useful to people from more parts of England than Reading is.

Never been to those two places in my life. Very specific.

Cheaper to get a plane to Edinburgh or Glasgow from southern England so not sure that is a good argment for that place. So whatever place is connected most to local places.
