Cheaper to get a plane to Edinburgh or Glasgow from southern England so not sure that is a good argment for that place. So whatever place is connected most to local places.
Well as a Scotsman, you can go non-stop to Peterborough and change for Ely, Cambridge, Huntingdon, Stansted Airport, Norwich, Ipswich, Stowmarket, Colchester, Letchworth, Hitchin, Oakham, Melton Mowbray and Leicester.
As a Scotsman, you can go to Reading with a change at Birmingham New Street. In turn, at Reading itself you can change for Maidenhead, Slough, Ascot, Newbury, Hungerford, Farnborough, Staines, Guildford, Redhill, Gatwick Airport, Swindon, Chippenham and Westbury.

    Does that help?

Last time I got a long distance train was Edinburgh to Taunton. A Quarter of the journey had to sit next to a man with loads of nazi tattoos, who got off at Birmingham.

Other than that, I love trains. Good way of viewing the UK at speed.

What motivates you to create all these inane threads? I don't mean to be rude but I'm genuinely curious. I like rail travel too but I never thought about making a thread about two random stations in the states.

    Clearly Reading.

1.I have used it once when traveling England
    2. It sounds and spells similar to Reding, the district name I grew up in in my hometown
    3. It spells similar to Redding reloading tools, nice.
    4. Its a nice Anglo Saxon name.

I find trains interesting and think they are worth discussing.

I was waiting for someone to ask me this question. I'll say Reading since it's closer to London.

There has been around a decade since I was studying in the UK.

My daily routine nowadays is as follows: I wake up in the morning, eat my cereals, read the news, go to work. Later, I return home to study, lurk Apruz, enjoy some funny youtube video as I'm enjoying some Greek salad or some steak after I have taken my zinc supplements, work out and go to bed.

It's rare for me to see, to really see myself. I mean, I may shave in front of the mirror but am I really seeing myself or some hasty figure?

There are however some times, some weekeneds in the midst of summer I can go back to the beach and play with the sand like a little tzatziki warrior (I build Romanesque castles, draw Justinian, dive in the sea shouting banzai, etc). But before that, I take a moment to appreciate the reflection of my figure as it is mirrored in the sea waters.

So, I stand there and all my life passes in front of me. What I were, what I've become and what I may become. And this is the spot where I recall memories from Britain, the mates, the girls, the teachers, trying to get around at Sainsbury's, British law prohibiting me to buy knives and laughs with cashiers, selfies around Ben and Buckingham, ninja tunes vinyls, Mr Aleko who with his fat Greek village Spanakopita tried to rival Chinese street food, Kebabs, even Souvlaki, and who was always kind enough to offer me a coffee for free. This is the time I take a deep breath and wonder "Which railway station was more useful: Peterborough or Reading?"
