By 400BC La Tène Celts from Switzerland spread ever onwards westward and settled on the british isles that way. So yes, continental and insular celts were the same.

I don't even think they share the same culture. A lot of what people think is Celtic is indigenous Isles stuff. The music for instance that is thought to be Celtic is Irish/Scottish. They don't even think of Welsh.

They are all fairly multi-ethnic now. If looking for recent figures Ireland has more foreign born now than either Wales or Scotland.

    Ireland 17%

But once you specifically include people born in England, then Wales beats both Scotland and Ireland. In any event, most immigrants in the Republic are from the UK and Eastern Europe. While there are some Chinese, Nigerians and Zimbabweans too, overall the percentage of non-whites is still low compared to much of Western Europe.

N.B. What's more, at least half of the 'foreigners' in Northern Ireland are from the Republic.

The Pakistanis are mostly in Glasgow (especially certain neighbourhoods like Kelvin). The Poles are more spread out throughout the country.

I disagree with that. I don't dispute the fact that Continental Celts came to the British Isles. I just don't think that enough did to change the local population in an appreciable and noticeable way. That's why I compared them to conquistadores, because most Latin Americans are Native American.

Gotta disagree there. Have a listen to Galician, Asturian and Breton music. I can even give you lots of Swiss, German, Canadian and Australian celtic music, which is independatly the same as Irish and Scottish. (Old music which isntg a copy but was independently created)

It's claimed that Celts brought culture and language with them. They supposedly were influential in the forms that music took. It's likely nigh impossible to prove that, though. It somewhat reminds me of the claim that Scottish people gave us gospel music, as well as fried chicken.

Yeah, that's a good point about current immigration trends. Ireland has more immigrants now. I've read debates on whether or not that's a good thing. It could go either way, but I don't think that all "conspiracy theorists" are wrong about the real reasons for mass immigration.

Southside of Glasgow is the more diverse part, with Pollokshields and Govanhill.

Kelvin is really nice, trendy West End. Middle Class Uni sort of area with nice parks and buildings.
