Two men arrested accused of raping a young woman in Ibiza: one of them a Bundesliga player

Two men have been arrested in Ibiza accused of raping an 18-year-old girl.

One of those arrested is a 25-year-old Bundesliga football player.

The events took place in a house in the municipality of Sant Josep, Ibiza.
The Guardia Civil has arrested two 25-year-old Germans in Ibiza, accused of allegedly raping an 18-year-old Spanish girl.

A 21-year-old British man remains in the intensive care unit of a private health centre in Ibiza after falling from a hotel in Sant Antoni.

According to the private health centre, he was admitted on Tuesday at around 23.30 hours.

The young man suffered a traumatic brain injury and unspecified multiple traumatisms, and was taken to the centre by an ambulance of the 061.

Swiss woman dies at illegal party in Salce (Zamora)

The illegal festival, which was called through a Telegram group, has been going on since last Friday and includes five stages, food and gift stalls and electronic music throughout the day.

This music festival, which lacked any kind of permit and has surprised local residents and the Guardia Civil itself, has led the armed forces to set up alcohol and drug controls and to identify people, as well as cutting off access to the area and monitoring the party using drones.

According to Guardia Civil sources, more than two thousand people and some 750 vehicles, most of them with number plates from outside Spain, parked in the field next to the stages before Friday afternoon, when vehicles were prevented from continuing to pass through.

Mallorca is trying to recover today from the tragedy experienced yesterday shortly before four o'clock in the afternoon in one of its most idyllic beaches, Cala Mesquida, a sandy area in the northeast of the island that at this time of the year is usually still crowded with tourists.

Two of them, a 52-year-old German who was spending his honeymoon in the area, and a 65-year-old Swiss pensioner, were struck by lightning yesterday. One died instantly. The other, after being seriously injured and trying to be resuscitated for more than half an hour by the two lifeguards on the beach, finally died on the sand. His wife, unharmed, was left in a state of shock.

The rescue professionals could do nothing to save his life while working in very difficult conditions, with a violent storm over their heads.

The storm came from the sea. There was not much rain, but there was an intense electrical apparatus. It discharged 274 lightning bolts in the area as it came hard into the coast. It was sudden, shocking and short-lived, so much so that the sun came out again later that afternoon as the bodies awaited the arrival of forensics.

"Lightning struck and my partner saw smoke coming out of the body of a swimmer, we went and found two dead, one was completely burned," explained, still shocked and at the scene, Federico Parisi, one of the two rescuers, in statements to Diario de Mallorca.

The yellow alert had been decreed minutes before by the State Meteorological Agency. The rescue teams applied the protocol when the storm broke. "We put up the red flag and pulled out all the bathers, alerting people," said the two experienced lifeguards on the beach, still affected.

"We were able to warn with the red flag and the whistle to get people out of the water but we could not evacuate the entire beach, it is impossible," said visibly saddened another of the lifeguards, Ariel Gaston, to the regional television IB3.

After certifying the irremediable death of the tourist directly hit by the lightning, this second lifeguard tried to save the life of the second injured, who was a few meters away from the first victim when the lightning struck Cala Mesquida.

Although it is not the first time that lightning has caused the death of a tourist on a beach in Mallorca (a 30-year-old Italian died in 1995 after taking refuge under a tree in Santa Ponça), it is an unusual event.

Just a week ago was the one-year anniversary of another tragedy between tourists who died on a beach in the middle of a late summer storm, albeit in different circumstances. Two German sisters, aged 23 and 25, drowned while swimming in the middle of an early morning storm on a beach in the municipality of Manacor.
