The Family and Women's Care Unit (UFAM) of the National Police Station of Gijón is investigating what appears to be a case of multiple rape that occurred early this morning in a boarding house located in the neighborhood of El Carmen. Four young men between 20 and 30 years old and Portuguese nationality have been arrested for allegedly acting as a pack and sexually abusing two 22 year old Spanish girls.


According to the account of the facts, they had arranged through social networks to meet in the room of the downtown hotel establishment. The girls approached the arranged place and instead of a young man appearing they were surprised to find four who ambushed them in the room and allegedly sexually assaulted them violently against their will at around two o'clock in the morning.


The two victims, who were beaten to force them, as reported by the Consistory, had to be taken to Cabueñes Hospital where they remained for several hours under observation until a patrol of agents accompanied them early this morning to the National Police, where they filed a complaint. The young women gave an account of a very violent episode which is being investigated.

A French tourist lost his life and his wife was injured in the head, as a consequence of a head-on collision between two jet skis near the port of Pasito Blanco, in the Gran Canarian municipality of San Bartolomé de Tirajana, reports the Emergency Coordination Center (Cecoes) 112 of the Government of the Canary Islands. At the same time, the son had to be treated for an anxiety crisis after the accident, while it is being studied whether he will be investigated for recklessness.

The team that went in an ambulance also attended his wife, 47, and also of French origin, who had suffered a moderate head injury, presenting a wound on the forehead. After being assisted, she was transferred in an ambulance to the health center of Maspalomas, where she remained under medical observation. Subsequently, he was evacuated to a private medical center on the tourist coast for tests on his head, and to assess the severity of the damage he suffered.

At the same time, the 17 year-old boy, from the same origin, suffered a mild anxiety attack, and was taken to the same medical center for treatment.

A 27-year-old Dutch man assaulted by his compatriots last Wednesday in Playa de Palma has died in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Son Espases hospital in Palma, sources from the Balearic Health Service have confirmed.

The National Police arrested last Friday a young Dutchman of 18 years old in connection with this fight between two groups of tourists from the Netherlands, which took place around 2:20 am on July 14, at the height of Balneario 1 of Playa de Palma, as detailed by the police force. Five tourists between 18 and 20 years old were injured in the fight.

The assaulted tourist was seriously injured and had to be admitted to the ICU of Son Espases, where he finally died this Sunday at noon due to the severity of his head injuries.

In the fight, five tourists were injured, three of them with a slight prognosis, one with multiple contusions and loss of consciousness and a fifth, the 27 year old now deceased. The Homicide Group of the National Police took charge of the investigation and, after numerous steps, managed to identify the alleged aggressors.

The nine alleged perpetrators are young men between the ages of 18 and 20. They come from two of the wealthiest towns in the Netherlands: Hilversun and Bussum. Meanwhile, the fatal victim was a 27-year-old mechanic, also Dutch, from the much poorer town of Waddinxveen.

A young Dutchman fell in two stages onto the public highway. First, the victim, in an advanced state of intoxication, fell from a second floor to the canopy that covers the hotel reception. He did not stay there and from this point he fell to the street from a height of about five meters and was left lying on the sidewalk.

Patrols of the National Police, Local Police of Palma and a medicalized ambulance of 061 have moved to the scene. The medical staff attended the young man, who was lying on the ground just at the entrance of the hotel.

It was two o'clock in the morning and the sea was showing its worst side. The waves were pounding at Cala Mandía (Mallorca) and there was hardly any light on the beach, but a group of seven young Germans - six girls and a boy - decided to take a dip. In the blink of an eye, one of the girls disappeared.


Everything indicates that, when she realized it, her sister tried to rescue her. In just a few minutes, they both died. Their names were Hannah Sophie and Vanessa Arndt and they had just arrived in Mallorca on vacation from the German town of Lengo.

One of the young women, aged 23, died on the spot and the other, aged 25, was taken brain dead to the hospital in Manacor, where her death was certified.

The two deceased sisters had arrived that same day on vacation in Mallorca together with four other young women from the same area of the Rhineland and were staying in a rented house in Passeig Platon in Cala Mandía. The other young man, also German, was spending his vacations in an establishment in sa Font de sa Cala, in Capdepera.

It is not the first drama of these characteristics that is recorded in Cala Mandia. On March 6, 2013, two young men, a Venezuelan and a Colombian aged 20 and 23, who were working on the renovation of a hotel in the area, climbed on a rock so that a friend could take a picture of them. At that moment a large wave hit them and swept them out to sea. They were unable to return to land. A large search operation was launched, but their bodies could not be rescued until three days later.
