Young Ukrainian woman plunged from Benidorm lookout still critical

    ED/EFE
    Alicante | 15·09·21 | 11:23

He accidentally fell from a height of about 20 meters while taking a selfie.

The 26-year-old Ukrainian woman, who fell off the cliff of the tourist castle of Benidorm when she was taking a selfie, is still in critical condition in the General Hospital of Alicante.

Health sources have informed Efe that the young woman is in very serious condition in the resuscitation unit after being evacuated for polytrauma and symptoms of drowning.

    Thank you for watching

The girl was yesterday at 18.10 hours in the company of a friend at the viewpoint of the castle of Benidorm, which many people know popularly as the 'balcony of Europe', one of the most visited and photographed points of the tourist capital of the Valencian Community.

When trying to take a selfie on a railing with the Levante beach in the background, apparently she was careless and accidentally fell from a height of about twenty meters down the cliff to reach the sea, where lifeguards rescued her and took her to the nearby rocks for the first resuscitation maneuvers before moving her to the port of the town in an unconscious state.

The SAMU ambulances and Basic Life Support performed advanced cardiopulmonary recovery and other stabilization techniques that allowed the recovery of vital signs, after which she was directed to the General Hospital of the province.

The bodies of two swimmers drowned in a cove in Torrevieja are recovered.

The Civil Guard has been searching since Thursday afternoon for a friend of the victim who was swept away by the sea.

A bather lost her life yesterday in the waters of Torrevieja and the Guardia Civil is looking for a friend of hers who also disappeared in the vicinity of the place when he was swept away by the current. The mortal victim is a young Finnish woman of 24 years and the missing, a Russian boy of 23.

The events occurred late yesterday afternoon when, apparently, both were bathing and were swept away by the current. At first, the man was able to get out but when he saw that the woman could not follow him, he went into the sea to try to rescue her, but neither managed to get out of the water.

From the Civil Guard details this Friday that at 16.25 hours yesterday the emergency services were alerted by a woman of Russian nationality, who claimed that two people had fallen into the sea and had been swallowed by the waves. From that moment on, a large search team involving members of different units of the Guardia Civil began to work actively to locate the missing persons.

Around 20.00 hours the body of the woman was found lifeless on the beach of Los Locos. The specific device in the water has resumed after dawn and continue at this time trying to locate the 23 year old man of Russian nationality.

    An accident
Everything points, according to the Armed Institute, that it was an accident, and that both were dragged by the strong waves in a rocky area and difficult to access from the Cala de la Zorra where they were bathing. According to the witness, wife of the missing man, the three were in the cove, when her friend jumped into the sea and began to drown, her husband threw himself trying, unsuccessfully, to rescue her, so she immediately alerted the emergency services.

The work of the deployed device is being greatly hampered by both the state of the sea due to the storm that lashes the coast of the province of Alicante, and the area in which they were last seen alive.

I was watching to find the video, really impressive and discouraging where the girl throws herself from the height of a rock into the sea for fun, in a few minutes the boy realizes that the girl can not get out and also throws himself into the sea and they will never come out of there alive again.

I do not give credit, the video leaves you frozen, how is it possible that today has lost the sense of fear or feel the danger, the sea pit where the girl throws carefree and determined was scary to see it by the agitation of the waves and currents. Just today the video has been broadcasted on Spanish TV news.

    This is very worrisome.

If you see the video it was not an accident, it was stupid that the girl jumped into a very dangerous place where the waves are strong and there are rocks nearby, it is a shame because they were very close to escaping from there, the boy tried to help her, but unfortunately also died. I don't understand how there are such stupid people to do those things.

That's right, the video shows that it was a total recklessness of the girl that resulted in a tragic end for both of them.

I don't know if it is the influence of the new virtual technologies and they forget that they are flesh and blood.

The filming was obtained later for that reason in the first publications there was talk of an accident, I guess they found it implausible that someone would jump as the sea was, then apparently there was someone else with them, a woman who was the one who recorded her jump, his jump and when the sea swallows them both. It was not clear to me if it was another tourist, I think it was a woman older than them, maybe that woman did not see the danger either and was recording happily without knowing that she was recording the chronicle of two useless deaths.

A fitness instructor's FAILED rescue of a colleague at sea in SPAIN both died.

I think this is the video I haven't seen it because I haven't verified the age and well I already saw it on the news and I don't feel like watching it again.

Apparently the woman recording is the boy's wife and friend of the deceased.

Perhaps its disclosure will help to prevent a similar situation from happening again.
