A man, in his forties, marries a pretty woman in her twenties. He's bigger, stronger, more educated, more intelligent, more mature, more wealthy, a better athlete, etc. Now, reverse the genders under *identical* (key word) circumstances with absolutely nothing changed in the above scenario (except gender). I bet that there are no or almost no situations like this, starting from the days of Ur, and I think that it proves the reality of gender roles, and I challenge you to prove me wrong. ;-)

Well, I can see a scenario where a cougar has a fling with a younger guy but they don't take them as a serious life partner or marriage material. We've all been there.

I've never been there. My ex wife was fifteen years younger than me. I always dated younger girls and younger women before that. My girlfriend, in junior high school, *might* have been older.
