Americans think Ireland is more important than it is and have weird ideas about it. I am sure it can be a nice quaint experience but so can New Zealand and some small islands in the British common wealth perhaps and maybe even Tasmania.

I agree with all this after living in UK and Nederlands for a while. You would have to pay me A LOT of money to ever live in France. I don't even like to travel through.

Any place in the countryside of the 3 would be fine. Considering capitals probably London. I have a love/hate relationship with Paris, i think it's depressing if you have a regular life there, going to work and living in a flat but you have a lot of free time and can live at night, then it's great, especially in some districts. Likely Switzerland in other possible choices.

would be Ahvenanmaa, Saaremaa or Ojumaa (Gotland), but also those places are now ruined by Germans and Russian aboriginals ��
