Tragic. The displacement of Irish drunks is a crime.

Not much more egalitarian but if you look at the backgrounds of politicians who lead in England compared to Scotland and if you compare their upbringings and status.

It's a legit thing to discuss.

Not really, albeit some grammatical errors can tell you than someone is from a lower class.

Poland doesn't have many Żorż Ponimirski anymore, we have plenty of Nikodem Dyzma instead, even if with formal educational degree or something

They do, to varying degrees. Some speak clear Romanian, others speak broken Romanian with a specific accent, and even a different thinner voice. Same thing in songs, they like the falsetto range a lot.

You're whining about nothing, everyone in Romania dislikes hard accents, but they tend to be very forgiving towards their own accent.

The only acceptable accent, beside the standard one from news broadcasts, is the Transylvanian accent, simply because it's funny. The rest of the accents - the thicker they are the more uneducated they sound.

One thing to note: there is an accent in Romania specific to the working class urban population, that is tied more to class rather than region. Bucharest taxi driver accent is good example of this - it's a common accent in Romania, not a regional one.

Do they not speak Romani? Here nearly all Gypsies use Romani.

No, they don't. Most gypsies in Romania speak Romanian, sometimes with additional Romani vocabulary. Only a small percentage of gypsies can speak Romani without mixing it with Romanian - I don't remember the exact figure, but I think it's less than 20%. Gypsies that live in counties close to the borders might speak natively a different language than Romanian, like Hungarian or Turkish.

Only in the past 20 years, Romani knowledge has improved somewhat because it was introduced in schools. Nonetheless, Romani is rarely spoken in Romania - this is a vid promoting Romani use in Romania (people in it are gypsies, but some can pass for Romanians):
