Banatske šore is similar game as Baseball and there is a story that Serbian scientist Mihajlo Pupin who was from Banat brought Banatske šore in USA and from this game originated Baseball https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mihajlo_Pupin

Americans like to believe baseball was invented by Abner Doubleday or evolved out of British cricket or rounders. I like to believe it was invented by bored Vlachs one day in the 14th Century who wore uniforms that resembled a karate gi. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oin%C4%83

According to one version Banatske šore are created by local shepherds, and according to other version by soldiers of Military Frontier from Banat. In both versions they created this game because they were bored.
Anyway, this game exist around 300 years in Serbian part of Banat. It has been almost forgotten after WW2. In the last 20 years the tradition has been renewed, and world championship in this game is being held in Tomaševac every year in the first decade of July https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tomaševac
