Lightbulb Brazilian DNA: 68% European, 20% African, 12% Amerindian

This is based on a summary of as many as 51 different genetic studies!:

    https://www.scielo.br/j/gmb/a/fk6kLT...dcZBC/?lang=en

    Abstract:

The genetic background of the Brazilian population is mainly characterized by three parental populations: European, African, and Native American. The aim of this study was to overview the genetic ancestry estimates for different Brazilian geographic regions and analyze factors involved in these estimates. In this systematic scoping review were included 51 studies, comprehending 81 populations of 19 states from five regions of Brazil. To reduce the potential of bias from studies with different sampling methods, we calculated the mean genetic ancestry weighted by the number of individuals. The weighted mean proportions of European, African, and Native American ancestries were 68.1%, 19.6%, and 11.6%, respectively. At the regional level, the highest European contribution occurred in the South, while the highest African and Native American contributions occurred in the Northeastern and Northern regions, respectively. Among states in the Northeast region, Bahia and Ceará showed significant differences, suggesting distinct demographic histories. This review contributes for a broader understanding of the Brazilian ancestry and indicates that the ancestry estimates are influenced by the type of molecular marker and the sampling method. (...)

Their "European" is more like non-African and non-Amerindian rather than actual European, considering how many people of Levantine, North African, etc. origin are counted as white there.

The result is very close to what I always say on this forum based on previous genetic studies: 70% euro, 19% african, 11% amerindian. With the error margin I believe Brazil is 67.5-72.5% european what is accurate for this study.

PS: Aah, pelo que vi é só uma revisão de literatura...

Yes, the northeast region tends to be very different from one state to another, the streotype of mulattos and blacks that the northeast has comes from one state to Bahia, Ceará for example is the second state with fewer blacks in Brazil, according to the last census only 2% of the inhabitants of Ceará were black, 98% of the population was basically triracial, mestizos and colonial whites.

Portuguese, Italian, Spanish, German, Levantine, etc. Brazil received people from almost every country in Europe and at least 4 MENA countries in good numbers (Lebanon being the huge majority, than Syria, Palestine and Morocco). However, those numbers (except Portuguese and Spanish) tend to be found in Central-Southern states mainly.

Like the common sense says, Brazil is mainly a White Pred Triracial (Pardo) country.

However, considering overall population numbers, things can be a bit more complex since more than half of Brazil's population does live in Southeast + South regions.

It is, but immigration was stronger in Southern states at all in the past.
