Default How would you describe your overall political beliefs and worldview?

While I still consider myself to be a social democrat, I don't see it as so central to my identity and worldview as before. Rather, in many ways I'd describe myself as a romantic libertarian - I combine a laissez-faire attitude towards controversial social issues such as drugs and prostitution with a belief that, to the best of our abilities, cultures and languages should be left alone. That's why, for example, the only British travel shows I invariably enjoy are those hosted by Michael Portillo - he makes an effort to speak the local language in question, treats countries on their own terms...

Anglo-Saxon or British imperialism based on my experience in America which is not ethnically British on the whole. Anglo men just want to be free but continental beasts want to be controlled by either government or religion therefore to free Anglo men in the former colonies I propose British imperialism.

Ironic you say that - Anglican bishops in the House of Lords have far more power than do religious figures in any other Western nation.

I base my view on the love of God and the people Jesus said those are the greatest commandments.

Funny you should say that when England is not a deeply religious nation, compared to America, where evangelicals and Jews have much political clout.

Attendance at the Church of England services is not obligatory and, indeed not a widespread habit.

True, but there is still the legal and political anachronism of the established Church.

So a mix of Catholic-inspired social conservatism with Third Positionist economic policies?

Yep, with a good dose of paternalism thrown in for good measure.

Well I am increasingly a social libertarian who believes adults should be treated like adults, so we'll have to disagree there. But as for economic policies, I believe the best thing would be something like Singapore: minimal tax and regulation on small businesses, combined with substantial State ownership of transport, utilities, banks and partial ownership of shares in several other companies.
