I have fond memories of the author Jan Brett, particularly Daisy Comes Home and The Mitten:

Cool! Thank you for your advices. I love vintage drawings like these! I have been able to find French editions for all your recommendations, except for Daisy Comes Home.

    Nice collection of books Laly!
Are there any specific authors you would recommend for bilingual children?

    This is a bedtime favourite:

    This is useful for counting:
"One mole digging a hole" by Julia Donaldson

Thanks for your recommendations Ylla. And yes, Julia Donaldson is a safe bet. And it's thanks to you that I know her!

And to answer you, let’s do honour to Turkish literature!

Feridun Oral is the only Turkish author I’ve read and I love his art. When The Moon Came Down will seduce any child by its poetry. It is about a little rabbit that can’t sleep at night and that befriends with the moon. The chiaroscuros are amazing, the pages are traversed by a lunar light giving an effect oscillating between disturbing strangeness and comfort.

It reminds me of the atmosphere of the painting Empire of Light, by the renowned Belgian surrealist René Magritte:

    Let’s continue with Feridun Oral!

Together, everything is possible gathers two icy tales that are perfect for Christmas, The Red Apple and Warm Winter. These lovely tales promote well the values of courage and camaraderie.

    Requested bedtime stories.
If your child is interested in nature and mindfulness I would recommend author Emma Carlisle. Her books are created in association with Kew Gardens which is one of my favourite places in the world.
