Best districts/neigbourhoods of Budapest

Which are your favorite parts of city for living and why? Which parts you consider overrated, which underrated?
We're looking to possibly move in near future and looking into good areas for living.

I personally prefer Pest, but discussion about Buda is welcome too (Stears for example want to move to Buda)

I'm thinking about Zugló (district 14) because you can get a nice house there and still be in the city, but it feels bit too sleepy and residential for my taste.
Districts 6 and 7 are something close to my taste, but I'm afraid it has too little green and too much noise and expats.

Looking to hear insider tips about the city from Magyar members here.

Much more clean than before. Also new buildings and less crime. Some parts maybe a little noisy but better than the 8. Its easy to approach locations from here in BP.

Well agree, it's up and coming area and still very urban but not overwhelmed like city centre. Once I got very bad impression of the area when I got stuck at metro station there in late evening but later went there few times and it was like night and day, looked like pretty good place for living with nice architecture.

It's close to what are we searching for. So, maybe we can be neighbours

Best part Budapest is district 2. where i live, very safe with many tree, forest and hilly area.
The best part of Pest is the 5. party district, many night club, tons of foreigner, pretty safe etc. The Margit Island is also very cool, outdoor parties, nice nature the only problem is many people have sex very openly in the benches and it's a little bit disturbing.
The northern part of district 13. called Agyalföld is a ghetto, but the southern part is very good place, similar to district 5.
District 8 is a shithole with many gypsie and chinese, i also don't like Kőbánya (10.) and Zugló (14.), in the Népliget there are many beggar and drug addicted people, very dangerous place at night. Just like in the district 18. Havanna what is also a shithole, just like Újpest (4.). The district 9. is neutral its not good not bad in my opinion, but pretty good place compared to other parts of Pest.

Our current location is very good (north Pest close to Margaret Island), so I wouldn't move just like that, but still it's a possibility.
There are always better areas to live in.

Budapest is very interesting city, I already explored a lot but ofcourse Hungarian members who live there all their life know better

5th is very expensive, besides there is no chill only tourists and party everywhere. Maybe good for college kids but not for grown adults to live.

Totally agree, especially not for family with kids. I don't want my kid to grow up so lonely like I did, thus I prefer to live in area where are other kids and preferably not foreigners who move all the time.
So I think 6,7 or 9 are better options in downtown.
