Were there really indigenous peoples in 1872 in states like Ceará, Bahia, Sao Paulo or all these states with a long colonial history? Or they were mixed people larping as indigenous?

Its possible they were catholic natives.

Why were most of brazilian historical centers destroyed and substituted by high-rise soviet-style blocks everywhere? Why brazilian cities are so tasteless in general?

I have seen instagram pages that inform about the destruction of the historical brazilian towns. The most mentionworthy example is Rio de Janeiro, which was a really beautiful city at the end of the XIX century-beginning of the XX century.

With some significant exceptions, today we can only find this old style architecture in pictures and some old buildings isolted here and there.

I also really like Rio de Janeiro pre 1930 architecture.
