Default In your country, at which point did shirtless musclebound men become prevalent in the media?

Among actors, TV presenters, models etc. It is quite clear that the Chad/Jock idea of male beauty was originally an American phenomenon. In Britain, I would say the trend began in the 80's and has been accelerating since. After all, James Bond himself has evolved from this:

    To this:

From what I can tell globally, the change has been especially dramatic in countries in the Middle East and South Asia. This is especially true of Bollywood - even within the same acting dynasties you can tell the difference:

    Rakesh Roshan

    Hrithik Roshan

Probably from the 80's onwards. The Bala regime wasn't as serious in the media censorship, unless it was some merengues with colorful expressions, or media with content that was deemed anti-Christian (like the movie The Last Temptation of Christ). After he left the stage, the PLD enacted full blown social liberalism, and it shows.

Ever since Ive had conscious it has been like that, so I would say since I was born. Ive kind of never noticed since it was what I was accustomed to and specially since what i predominently watched was Super heroe movies or Star Wars, stuff like that so it made sense to me that they were so jacked, like to me super heroes and heroes were supposed to be ripped, but I remember around 12 yrs old, I was watching step up with one of my best friends at the time, and then I somehow noticed the pattern after all these years, as in some kind of epiphany xdxd, and told my friend "dude why are all male protagonist always so jacked in all of the movies?" xdxd.

One of the perverse and ironic 'achievements' of modern feminism has been to subject men to the same bollocks body judgements that women have suffered for much longer.

Up until the 1920s, the Greek Alpha male was the outlaw who didn't submit to his Ottomanized masters. Not exactly the shirtless jock but certainly not the upper class James Bond. These were also the men that Byron romanticized.

In the 1920s, pictures like the one below appear which would be accepted by fascists for idolizing the ancients but they were obviously considered provocative.

After the Anglosphere influence of the WW2 and the urbanization of Greece, you get that upper class ideal of otherwise "beta" males.

For the gym jock, I guess that 80s may not be that off.
