Western Thrace was the region that first rebelled against the Empire and founded its own Turkish Republic, and actually the first Turkic Republic in history.

Following that logic, give back Western Asia Minor, Pontus and Eastern Thrace. We are transferring Pontics tomorrow.

You were the ones who won the war that led to the 1923 Lausanne Treaty which called both minorities Christian and Muslim, not Greek and Turk. You forced the terms of that treaty on Greece, not the other way around, so live up to your legal AND moral responsibility, just as Greece had to shut up and take it when your grandfathers acted like lunatics in the 1950s and 60s which led to Greeks leaving Turkey.

Turks of Western Thrace accept Greece's rights in Western Thrace and are aware of the responsibility given to them by their ancestors. But we want to live with our own identities, and without discrimination when it comes to the public duties and investments in the region so that we can make a living in the region, and all other relevant government policies such as the election of our own religious leaders and educating in minority schools. If that's the Neo-Ottomanism which you react I'm probably more radical than you in this issue, but that's just a mask either(both) media or government uses. We are not a trump card of Greece so they can use it against Turkey, this is simply the violation of our rights.

I feel you but no different for me, I had to change a country to continue my education. Have you realized that only like 10% of the youth from the minority can go to university in Greece, mainly because poor education of minority schools and alo due to the anxiety of not being able to cope in Greek. Everyone has a problem at that regard.

Like 1/3 of the Turks goes to Europe as a seasonal worker and the other 1/3 lives in Turkey. Thrace is the officially poorest region in the EU. We had to elect our own religious leader, but that's not the case for a long time as Greece assigns his own puppet Muftis and even imprisoned our elected Müftis. More than 30 minority schools in the primary school level were closed in the last 10 years while we are expecting more investment on education so that quality may increase. Not to mention the identity problem already stated in previous posts.

What you should understand that the issue is not related with Turkey but the minority's itself. After living 7 years in Turkey I can assure you noone gives a fuck about us, neither Erdoğan's himself who apparently tries to make the nationalists wow, and sure that more than half of Turkey don't even know there is a Turkish minority in Greece. So what we ask is not to contribute Turko-Greek pissing contest, but these expectations are just what we need to sustain our lives in Thrace peacefully.
