Hello
According to romans themselves, the first patricians (nobles) were picked by Romulus himself to partake in the Senate. These men and their respective families would rule as the elite in Roma. All trough the monarchy, up to the Empire.
The romans believed these people to come from the survivors of Troy, led by Aeneas. Romulus and Remus are descendantes of Aeneas via their maternal grandfather, Numitor.
Linguistics and archaeology tells that the ancestors of Romans likely came from the indo-euro Italic peoples. These would submit local tribes in the peninsula, rule and implement their language and mores on them.
Supossedly these lines remained pure.
My question now is: What happened to these people?
Did any patrician lines survive until medieval or modern age?
