I mean I can be a Gypsy and still cool? But Im not sure, because I heard gypsies are "hidden americans" in europe you rather not publically say you are roma if you dont want troubles. Ok you are not persecuted in europe, but it is very negative, people suspect it or know it anyways, but you just dont talk about it and always distance yourself from the roma community if you want to live a normal life. In America you are a cool Gypsy?

Not in Spain. We have by far more Gypsies than negros. Same in many countries of EE.
In France, UK, Netherlands, Portugal, Germany etc yes, it is the contrary.

I think most Estadounidenses would just think Mortimer is a Mexican or something, no one knows what a gypsy looks like here. It was surprising to me when I came here two years ago, in Europe it is such a ubiquitous thing, like pretty much every Spanish city has a gypsy area as such:

Yeah he will likely be guessed as Mexican. He can pass for sure.

I mean, sure they know it as some distant, like "exotic" foreign concept perhaps, but that is about it.
