Those came in the 90s after the collapse of Soviet Union, along with Russians, Georgians, Ukrainians, Albanians and other migrants. Many must have returned back as they are not recognized as Greeks.

Do the Greeks of Istanbul region and Turkish Thrace fall under Pontians, or Ionians? Isn't dialect the main the denominator? I tend to see the Greeks from the region between Samsun and Trabzon as Pontians.

I think they were they were their own thing, but definitely closer genetically to Ionians than to Pontians.

They were Greeks from all over Greece, Epirus, Crete, Thrace, Macedonia, Pontus, Istanbul was what Athens is today. Would you call them all Athenians? The other parts of Greece (including Pontus) were more homogenous.

Why aren't you? Your keep saying your family was Patriarchist in late Ottoman times, which, if they were at all political, meant they supported the Greek cause.

Paternal side. Maternal was Exarchist. Besides, we're talking about replacement of Slavophone natives here with West Asians. What's to celebrate?

No one replaced no one in 1920s. Bulgarians were sent back to Bulgaria.

It's interesting for me, why most of Ukrainian and Russian Greeks who live between Slavs are not obsessed with repatriating to Greece and consider their land where they live to be their motherland, while those Caucasian-like behave like biggest Greek patriots and obsessed with going to Greece and Cyprus?
