I have seen/met quite a few darker types from both countries - they are more common than many people think.

Yeah Polish blondness/Aryanness is often overrated - in my experience they are not much if at all blonder than Brits, contrary to stereotype.

I've met more Germans that could pass as 'Mediterannean' than Poles so voted for Germany.

As for Germans, although they are definitely blonder than Brits as a whole, I find their darker types can often look even more 'exotic' than most dark Brits do: Mats Hummels, Kevin Volland, Hansi Muller, Ulf Kirsten, Joschka Fischer, Jonas Kaufmann, Heiko Maas...

    Both in equal measures

Germany for the southwest (Atlanto-Meds) and Poland for the southeast (Pontids)

Alpine types can pass in either places (excluding Gorids)

All of those you mentioned except for Jonas Kaufmann look no darker than the darkest Brits imo, are there examples of dark proper French that are darker than the darkest Germans i wonder?

I don’t think pure Alpines are numerous in Southern Europe. Most of them are usually mixed with Dinarid, Med, Pontid or Atlantid.
