Was Cuba majority white before the Communist revolution?

Also, “indio” in Puerto Rican is basically a mulatto with wavy/straight hair - same thing in Cuba.

More or less the same here, although the definition is broader for sure.

Yes I have. Cuba isn’t as white as it appears to be on the census however whites in Cuba are a big minority. Holguín (which actually has a reputation throughout the country as being a pretty racist place - because of how white it is), Sancti Spiritus, Villa Clara, Pinar del Río, Mayabeque, Artemisa, Matanzas, Cienfuegos, Ciego de Avila are all majority white. That isn’t to say these places don’t have any pardos or mulatos but whites definitely predominate. From Camagüey (where my paternal family is from) onward is where the demographics start to get more mixed or black.

This was my impression there as well. In fact, the guajiros are the largest peasantry of its type in the Caribbean archipelago.
