Well I still think that the pure whites in Cuba decreased in the last 60 years. But the revolution was only one of the reason. Intermixing played a role and then the natality rate among the white Cubans could be another one like I said. So easily Cuba went from 50%-55% white to 35%-40%. I calculate that at least half of that % was due to the white flight. It doesn't sound crazy considerating so many left. It wasn't the only reason though.

One of my grandparents was among the people wanting to ride that wave, but he ended up being shipwrecked here in Azua and going native, so to speak, lol.
My great grandparents from Tenerife came to PR already married, as you say things were going down the shitter in the old country and land was cheap if you were some young peasant. My mom has told me stories like when she was a kid she thought Tenerife was a place in Puerto Rico because her grandparents just seemed like regular Caribeños . She only began to realize when she got older and noticed they used all these "strange" words no one else used, and that their accent sounded more like Venezuelans than Boricuas...then my great grandparents explained the whole history to her, etc.

I´ve only seen pictures of them because they died before I was born, but they didn´t look like stereotypical Canarios at all. They both had blue eyes, and my great grandmother blond hair.

It's incredible how XIXth century/early XXth century Spanish (and even Portuguese) history resembles the run-of-the-mill one of Latin American countries post-independence: military coups, civil wars, foreign occupation for some bouts, you name it. It can get downright depressing at times.

As for my case, I had the amazing good luck of getting to know the Sevillian old man, he managed to live up to a 104 years of age, with almost the full scope of his physical faculties, except for going partially blind, but even then he refused to sit down and rest as would correspond someone his age, but insisted on continuing making some agrarian work with the sons in his backwoods piece of land in Azua, truly admirable.

Light griffes are super common in Guantanamo and Santiago (also in Havana of course). The whitest parts of Cuba are likely Mayabeque, Artemisa, Pinar del Rio and Matanzas.
Most Cuban provinces are majority white with the exception of Oriente, Lá Habana, and La Isla de la Juventud. There are plenty of places in Cuba where you could go days without seeing a single nonwhite person, which is something that astonished me because it’s something you would never see in Puerto Rico.

If Oriente is the easternmost cuban provinces then combined with La Habana that accounts for like 70% of the population.

It may well be the case you won't find Chinese or full Blacks in some of those places, but what about Pardos?

Yes without a doubt, I’d say it’s one of whitest regions in Latin America actually. Definitely the whitest in the Caribbean.
