They are liberal, because Finnish immigrants in the 60s teached them to be.

They were the testing model for immigration. Sweden must have seen how good it worked and since then they have kept wanting more.

As for Swedish attitudes towards drugs and sex, they are certainly NOT liberal in the Dutch or even German sense: men who buy the services of prostitutes are heavily punished, and forget about the prospect of legalising cannabis there.

The LATAM countries you mentioned are just crime ridden hellholes, difficult to place on the left vs right spectrum which is very Eurocentrist IMO.

Swedish societies view on pretty much all social issues bar the ones you mentioned are heavily left wing; and Germany despite being more tolerant towards prostitution, has at the least plenty of traditional christian communities in the south, and the whole eastern half of Germany which is very socially conservative.

Yeah, considering how irreligious the Swedes are, they can really be prude when it comes to sex such as prostitution.

But for feminist reasons rather than socially conservative or religious ones. I think you'd find the Netherlands, Germany and even Spain and Czechia to be more liberal (in a classical, i.e. libertarian sense) on these sorts of issues than Sweden is.
