    Are you referring to social or economic issues? Because if the latter, I thought Merkel was trying to liberalise the Germany economy?

    I'm talking about post-1989 comparison, of course. Before that it's more complex and Germany could have been considered as more statist and collectivist than France.

    France, France is the most collectivist state in all Western Europe (including Germany), it's not even close for the others countries.

    Unfortunately I have to say because too much power given to the state ends up with a tyranny like the one we are living right now.
