Is Pax Americana over?

Pax Americana was a plan made by US politicians after the WWII. After the Afghanistan disaster many commentators see that the time of Pax Americana is over. They don't actually say that the Afghanistan war is the reason killing it, but everything that has happened during the last two decades was prelude for it. We can ask what kind of political structure is replacing all beliefs we had still in the '90s. Is it a multilateral consensus between southern world ( you know what I mean, Africa, India, Brazil etc), western world and China? Russia is obviously economically too weak to play any important role. Also, could we see that the western arrogance, overoptimistic thinking of the possibilities of western democracy as a solution to worlwide problems, all this has sped up the change? Or is it more like the USA only takes a breather and come back with new fresh strength? These are not my ideas, but what I have read.

Not yet, but this Afghan fracas has dealt them a severe reputational blow. They need to do something grand, and fast, before this starts having an effect on everything else.

Pax Americana is here to stay. America is the most benevolent superpower in the history of the world. Ever since the end of WW2, Pax Americana has produced the longest period of peace and growth humanity has ever seen.

When America falls it will all go to shit as other countries try to fill the power vacuum. China will only grow stronger. Japan/South Korea will disappear without the West to protect it. The Middle East will be reorganised.

The US is responsible for policing global trade and preventing piracy and ensuring stability in the third world. If the US military downsizes, we'd see a new era of great wars and alliances. Globalism would collapse as trade lanes collapse. It will be like the 1930's again.

Reminder that the Pax Americana is built upon naval supremacy, if you unironically believe this failure of nation building means the country is falling you are a brainlet (none of that Afghan shit means anything).

Good points. I agree, we need a strong western world. We know it, we have continuity.

Notice that I didn't write my opinions and I also explained my standing point. It was to get fresh ideas.

Military power is just one leg in the edifice of empires. Reputation is another, heavier factor to take into account as well, and an empire that loses the trust of its constituent parts can only expect trouble on the horizon if this loss of trust holds over time.
