They certainly look a lot closer to Brits. Though culturally they're distinct from both.

Your average austrian sticks like a sore thumb in Romania.

would you still say they're farther from Austrians than Brits?
Romanian diaspora from USA/Australia/Canada is not characteristic at all for romanians from Romania or from other diaspora places. They're really assimilated.

Im sure certainly a million people with balkan roots or partial balkan roots live in austria came as immigrants and are born here, in a country with 7 million people that is alot. Maybe even more people with balkan roots when we go even further back. I think austrians are much more balkan then brits and it shows.
I have a similar idea. Austrians are more similar to brits if we consider pigmentation -romanians are significant ly darker- but their facial features can be more slavic, resembling balkanites.

You have layers of assimilation in the Romanian community, depending on how many generations they are removed from the first migrants in each family.

In churches where sermons are held in Romanian the community is very recent and mostly directly Romanian. The example I gave is like that.

Yeah, everyone who goes to these churches are recent Romanians. It's just that there's no gypsies or balkanthot makeup . The mutts don't even speak Romanian, and are probably terrified of the anti-LGTBQ attitudes of these churches

Having visited all three countries generally there are pretty big differences to one another, Austrians are mostly similar to Hungarians, Slovenians and South Germans from what I seen, so yeah, they look much more Eastern to British people but they also don't really have noticeable Mediterranean and Pontid phenotypes as in Romania. Maybe little bit closer to Brits, but still very distant.

There are native Austrians with Med and Pontid phenotypes, but they are a minority.
