Not really comparable, USA is a federal system with states rights and the president has a completely different level of power to the British PM. Most of what Thatcher privatized was already private in much of the USA; Britain was the "sick man" of Europe and a quasi-socialist state at the time.
Under Thatcher welfare spending increased as did spending on the NHS.

Yes and no. Things like utilities and airports are usually owned by local or state governments in the US, whereas here they were privatised. For that matter, Amtrak is still owned by the federal government, whereas the Tories under Major privatised British Rail in the 90's and split them into silly franchises.

Although I don't post there much in the Latin American sections Andullero, Incal, Duffmann, Alex.Aleman, and others provide good commentary. They are not in the English threads as much.
