I never thought that such uncivilized barbarism still exist in Europe, but it seems North Europe didn't change.

Life was very cruel for a very long time before the last 200 years of human history. And most of these 200 years have been an abject failure in achieving their utopian and unrealistic goal. If I could undo one thing from history, it would be the enlightenment.

There is no reason in the 21. century to doing that. Its just primitivism.

Primitive motives are largely what ended up driving humans to get to this point. All of the major inventions we use in the modern world were invented for warfare, and most of the big ones were developed originally for the purpose of getting WMDs to their targets. You are typing to me across the internet because somebody in the 50s wanted to tell a nuke where to go. I think we should give a little tribute to our primitive ancestors now and then, a little bit of spilled blood to remind us why we're here.

Whale hunting is allowed several countries (outside of EU) which also have/owns sea areas. Unfortunately.

Faroe Islands is pretty bare place to life. Not much income opportunities. Most of younger women (as becoming adult age) will move to Denmark just because of that. I have met two. Opposite clearly more guys/men will stay there and now those (as lack of women) are bringing wives from Asia.

As much as I really hate whale hunting (in all forms, all countries) for them it might be most necessary (vs Japan, Norway etc.). Keeping minds they are not getting (''blood sucking'') money from EU like some countries do in Europe.

Like Netherlands, Denmark has big agriculture sector. True also if we think pig meat production. We evidence that every Christmas time in Scandinavia now in EU era. My mom always buys local Christmas ham even as Danish version would be clearly cheaper (quality over quantity). Anyway, Danes are worried about that business of theirs and their reputation as meat producers. Money talks.

Boar is actually of those wild animals which have spread to Finland while last 20 - 30 years. From south (Baltic countries) via Russia (swathe between Laatokka lake and Gulf of Finland). Global warming and climate change has made that possible (milder winter and especially less snow in south east of Finland).

I know (even as we have never had pigs in our farm) that same discussions have been in Finland. Can boars spread diseases to farm pigs? In my understanding that is possible; the question is how big the risks are? As EU still almost killed the agriculture in Finland (cheap products from Denmark, Netherlands and even more southern) nobody has not yet said that all these boars (newcomers) should be killed.

Very barbaric. A huge pod of dolphins slaughtered and they are such intelligent animals. It is very upsetting. They won't even be able to use all that meat. People are bastards.

Barbaric and disgusting. I also hate rich people who kill rhinos, elephants and lions. Come here and pay for killing bears. We have too much them and they multiply wildly.

    "For fun":

Hunts like this have been taking place since at least 1298, when the first surviving laws regulating the practice were published, and precise records have existed since 1584, according to the Faroese government. ...

The animals are butchered for meat and blubber - here one man has sliced parts of this dolphin. ...

The Faroese say that whale and dolphin meat is an important part of their diet, and means they don't have to spend money and waste natural resources importing food from abroad. ...

At the end the meat was packaged up. Most of it is shared out in the Faroese community, but some can be bought in stores as well.

Also it was Faroese people and not Danes. The Faroese language is more closely related to Icelandic than to Danish.
