    Well how can you know this? You don't have your family tree researched many centuries back.

    It is totally probable that you have some Germanic admixture dating back to the Middle Ages.

    But Ancestry doesn't go so far back. They stop at about 1820. But it is true that I haven't researched so far back.

    Where do they say this that they stop at around 1820 ???

    =====

    I don't think I had English or Swedish ancestors in 1820:

    "Pomerania" is correct though, for some of my ancestors:

    Their timeline runs up to 1800s and in general that's pretty standard in the Industry. 23andme also said that they focused on the last 200 years from what I remember.

    No, only the genetic communities are 500-1000 years ago (big dots) or 50-300 years ago (small dots).

    Admixture breakdown as a rule goes even further back than the genetic communities / recent ancestry.

    23andMe was always saying that they report >500 years ago, because they are a New World company and report ancestry before 1492 CE.

    Only the regional results on 23andMe are thought to represent more recent (than 500 years) ancestry.

    ^^^ Just read what they say in my results, which I posted above. Nothing about 200 years:

    "Your Ethnicity Estimate may include two sorts of results,

    Results with a [big dot] indicate distant origins (500-1,000 years ago).

    Results with a [small dot] indicate more recent origins (50-300 years ago)."

    Spoiler!

    BTW:

    I think for Europeans it makes the most sense to report ancestry from around 750 years ago.

    For Spain and Poland definitely choosing year 1250 AD makes the most sense, in my opinion.
