    The ones that end in -i are plural, but I will write singular translation as singular:

    Rossi: red haired

    Ferrari: blacksmith

    Russo: from rosso which means "red", the word russo also literally means "russian" bit that's not the case

    Bianchi: plural of Bianco

    Romano: from Rome

    Gallo: could either mean "rooster" or "Gaul"

    Costa: "shore"

    Fontana: "fountain"

    Conti: plural of Conte

    Esposito: for

    Ricci: "curly haired"

    Bruno: "brown"

    De Luca: son of Luca

    Moretti: from moro which means "dark complexioned and/or haired"

    Marino: related to the sea

    Greco: "greek"

    Barbieri: barber

    Lombardi: from Lombardy, but in the middle ages the term Lombardy included much more territories than nowadays region.

    Cassano: from various places named so

    Nowak - new man (mostly given to peasants who were new in a village)
    Kowalski - suffix -ski in Polish is usually a geographical reference to a certain village, in this case it's either to a village named Kowal, Kowale, or Kowalskie. The word kowal itself means smith. -ski ending surnames were very common among Polish nobles who were naming themselves after villages they owned, however, nowadays the most of Poles who own them are descendants of peasants who just chose to have a noble-like surname

    Mazur - either a Masurian or archaic for Masovian, both are northeastern Polish subethnicities
