these were the areas the Italians came from

History of Italians in Northeastern Mexico

Don JUAN BAUTISTA CHAPA (BARTOLOME SCHIAPAPRIA) was born 16 Nov 1627 in Villa Arbisola, Genoa, Italy

Captain Juan Cavazos was born in 1605 in Santa María, Castilla La Vieja, Spain. Son of Giovanni Cavazzi from Cavazzo, Carnico province of Udine, Italy and Simona Del Campo of Spanish origin

Giovanni Paoli, better known as Juan Pablos (1500?-1560 or 1561), a native of Lombardy. Giovanni Paoli was born in the region of Brescia around 1500

the most frequent last names that these Italian settlers left behind were Cantu, Lomeli, Chapa and Cavazos, and all those last names are very rare in other regions of Mexico, especially in other Latin American countries, Cantu last name for example only exist in Mexico just like Cavazos
