Now TASS formulate it as Russia wants

    a) guarantees that the Nato will not expand to former Soviet states

    b) USA will not sell short and middle range missile to any country bordering Russia.

    We don't know the truth.

The second demand is cheeky, because they have increased offensive arms everywhere in the Baltic region.

    1. True, like Harkonnen wrote (and via what happened in real: Molotov-Ribbentrop path).

    2. True, even as Churchill probably influenced to Stalin to stop attacks (after 90days war). Winter War (much longer than Stalin had though: just few days to maximum 2 weeks) started to get too much negative publicity in the World.

    3. Yes. Churchill informed about that to Mannerheim (a day before it became official), ''apology'' it between the lines (to where all has lead) and said Stalin demanded that. Mannerheim had replied: My duty is look after (the best possible ways) Finland and people living here.

It is always ''sneaky'' then Russians are involved, is it not? Plus often what is published (especially topics like this) is gonna be just halt of true ...

But the most important fact ... in my eyes nobody, I mean nobody should get (= benefit) anything just as moving their military forces on the border. As if that really works, it will put (21th century civilized?) world in whole new position. Those who have weapons will set the rules and others will just need to accept them.

Hard to say exactly what is on the table. I guess that Ukraine and negotiations include also restrictions of Euro missiles. USA can handle Russian missiles by threat of own missiles, but European Nato members like France and UK can back off, they have done it before in front of dictators.

In my eyes, if Russia is really willing to start a open war against Ukraine (and not only playing games here), then be my guest (let it be so). I doubt WWIII will start on that, as west will not response via military force. BUT I hope west will put that action to cost Russia (as much as west ever can all the other ways).

I believe that the crisis in Ukraine is not the main issue and what Russia is seeking in possible negotiation. I hope there will not be any negotiations. I am afraid that we confront a new Euro missile pact. Ukraine is only a first move.
