I never imagined there to be Maras in South America... I know there are South Americans and even Caribbeans in maras but in the USA (east coast)... but to think there are some in South America is very weird... like you said, they seem more like fan boys replicating a style that they didnt grow up in... im not a fan of gangs especially because of the bad image they give salvadorans... i have relatives who are maras in the east coast... some are old school with military background because of the civil war... Maras in the East Coast are very feared because of the brutal ways of killing their enemies... I just hope the gang doesnt spread all over Latin America... that would be very bad

Idk about reputation in the US, but Miami is filled with Peruvian restaurants, all you gotta do is drive on US-1 or Collins and you'll see a peruvian restaurant. They are more known for their food than anything else, at least in miami. Tbh they fly under the radar in south florida because they aren't as numerous as Cubans or even Colombians or Venezuelans.

Most of Latin Americans, have no reputation in Europe. Not many interactions with them afaik.
