Gather round kiddies I have a story to tell ....

in the beginning there were hacker gods named Theo De Raadt (of OpenBSD) and Patrick Volkerding (slackware) et. al. and they laid downed the law of hacker-like systems then a new generation came about and said "fuck that old school unix greybeard way" and "all we care about are APIs and containers"... a little before that in the mid-nineties the anti-Slackware came about called redhat but it did not become a full juggernaut infested with NSA government AIDs until later. However, a little before that Debian was born but was still legit before it got infested with Redhat NSA AIDs from SystemD ass to mouth pr0n action because ultimately it is engineered by nation states to f*ck you over but think you have a legit on the level system. Then Mark Shuttleworth and Ubuntu came along and open the land for frolicking of non-hackers and non-geeks; Then megamaniacal Redhat said "I see the non-geeks and API and Container heathens" and "I will make my juggernaut move". Then Redhat infested almost all the land with NSA systemD faggotry but Theo and Patrick have been steadfast so , here you ,go :

Slackware 15 RC1 or RC2 has been released and I wiped my hard drive of Debian nation state NSA systemD AIDs cancer and installed slackware once again after many years.

And I lived happily ever after ...the end.

I used Slackware at home for many years. An excellent choice for a home computer (where there is no need to support a large fleet of PCs and servers). If you want predictability, you use a stable version; if you want fresh software, you upgrade to the -current one. No dubious, policy-driven innovations, thanks to wise Patrick. Most of the operations here are easier to accomplish than in corporate "user-friendly" distributions, and configuration guides are actual for decades. The best distribution imo, I left it for Fedora only because I didn't want to spend my [shrinking] personal time on maintaining it.
When version 15 is released, I'll take a look at it and probably come back.
