With Alpine we are now talking about a phenotype, not a geographical area. Alpine is probably the heaviest influence in Italy(yes, more than Dinarid, which is many times overrated) and it is also very common in Greece and parts of Eastern Europe(also Gorid variety) and none of these lie in Central Europe.
About passing as swiss or south german, i think many people think it's harder than it actually is, the Alpine and Dinarid types are well present there so there will be some overlap with (mainly the North of) Italy. Not saying that they look similar as groups, since germans of course have more Nordid and Cromagnid types and different vibe but neither that we are two worlds apart.

Some Syrian are lighter than some Italian yes but on average they are not world's apart you said German are not world's apart that's why I said I think it is relative they pass as well as turks in Germany there are enough turks if they have german manners are not worlds apart
