Canelo is Mexican, Golovkin is half Russian half Korean.

It depends on the populations you plot.

If you plot all the European, Asian and American populations together, these 2 boxers will be far apart.
But if you plot only the Eurasian mixes of all sorts the boxers will be closer after the dimensionality reduction.

Thing is, Canelo is most fair complexioned/northern looking in his family.

Great thread idea, and I know a real boxing fan when I see one (Feiichy).

My guess is that Canelo is not as European admixed as his red-headed look might suggest. I've seen his siblings and I think for the most part they look Amerindian influenced, more than he does anyway.

As for Golovkin, I guess we'd have to figure out where his Russian side hales from, regionally, and go halfway between that and the Korean average, I suppose.

Another interesting plot might be the Klitschko brother's. As far as I know they are 3/4 Ukrainian and 1/4 Ashkenazi.

He competes under Kazakhstan flag, where he was born. Could he actually come close to Kazakhs autosomally? I'm not sure.
