Korea capitalist overprogressive state doesn't surprise me that much.
I don't mind east Asian progress, but they had rich history and it's sad they are losing it.

I want to highlight one thing. Finland has a reputation of country of lots of suicides. European Japan in this matter etc. Yes, that has been true in the past.

Perhaps 1,5 - 2 years ago I replied to one thread here and said that it is not anymore like that. It was one of those: Finland Happiest country in the World. Some TA members from southern countries said that I talk BS. Now this study (2017) shows the same thing. Finland will not show up anymore among of Northern European countries. And also Finland starts to be close with some Central European countries. Shortly: Finland has proved on this, just like I said. All this has not been reached without lots of efforts and work. Here has been culture matters behind. Finns have never been so ''unhappy'' as their suicide statistics showed vs others. Suicide just has been more approved way to end all. But like we know culture matters are one of the hardest to change. Plus long winter seasons are still as dark as earlier.

Surprised by Scandinavia. They claim to be extremely happy people in all possible rankings... and then commit many suicides.

Eastern Europe is a very sad place for decades, no improvement, no hope.

It's always been a stereotype, as far as I can remember, that Scandinavians are very suicidal.

But it isn't just economic conditions that make people suicidal... there's a certain amount of intelligence (at least thoughtfulness, reflection, etc) required to feel hopeless-- and that can happen even among the most wealthy.

Yeah... but in last years, Scandinavians claim everywhere that they are happiest people on Earth. For example, Google says

Denmark comes second in the World Happiness Report 2020 which ranks 156 countries by how happy their citizens perceive themselves to be. The country's capital city, Copenhagen, ranks fifth among the world's happiest cities.

Are all these rankings,surveys, etc fake?

I think this must be true because when my uncle killed himself when I was 10 I remember thinking "what a fucking badass" and even boasted about it to my friends. He essentially did the seppuku because he shot himself in the stomach. I'm kinda fascinated about suicide and it would be deffo cool way to end it all. To harden the soul to that point. Problem is I don't feel suicidal at all, every year I just get more upbeat.
