Obviously this question is aimed at non-native English speakers.

While I'm not a hater of English, the opposite, I love it, but I also love my native Portuguese language, and I would be sad if English replaced it.

I even think Brazilian popular music, for example, is less anglicized (which I support) than, for example, J-pop/K-Kpop, which is filled with English lyrics all over the place, some even senseless.

Seeing a forced Anglinization of terms that we already have an equivalent in our language is something I'm not fond of. For example, renaming a "cachorro quente" stall to "hot dog".

That's my only criticism towards the English language in the non-anglosphere.

And that doesn't change the fact that, for being our current lingua franca, non-anglophone people should learn it, not only for business purposes, but for also expanding our horizons, since many contents on the Internet are not available or scarce in our languages.

Do you think Dominicans would protest if English were mandated to be given at least equal status with Spanish or even to replace it?

Sadly, they wouldn't. In fact, recently our legislators here mandated its teaching on all schools at the primary level, smh.
