Default Hindi words that sound similar to English

I find it interesting that there are some Hindi words that sound very similar to English ones. Interestingly, I don’t think any of these Hindi words were derived from English during the British Empire. I’m sure they derived from Sanskrit.

    English l Hindi
    ————————————————————

    Name —-Naam
    Up/Upstairs —-Upper
    Mom —-Ma
    No —-Na/Nahi
    Me/I —-Me

Can you guys think of any other words?

Thanks! Interesting video. It looks like it’s trying to imply that some European words also derived from Sanskrit?

There are also some words that sound similar to European words because of the Muslim invaders. For example, the word for person in Hindi is “Adami” (literally means the Adamic race or children of Adam. Another example is the Hindi word for “amen” is “ameen” but of course, it is used by Muslim Indians.

Indo-Iranic languages are close to Balto-Slavic languages than any other world language group

The Sound of the Vedic Sanskrit language (Numbers, Words & Sample Text)

Welcome to my channel! This is Andy from I love languages. Let's learn different languages/dialects together. I created this for educational purposes to spread awareness that we are diverse as a planet. Special Thanks to Karan Sharma, PhD Research Scholar Vedic Sanskrit Native to: India, Nepal, Pakistan and Afghanistan Region: Indian subcontinent and eastern Iranian plateau Era: c. 1500 - 600 BCE Language family: Indo-European (Indo-Iranian) Vedic Sanskrit was an ancient language of the Indo-Aryan subgroup of the Indo-European language family. It is attested in the Vedas and related literature compiled over the period of the mid-2nd to mid-1st millennium BCE. It was orally preserved, predating the advent of writing by several centuries. Extensive ancient literature in the Vedic Sanskrit language has survived into the modern era, and this has been a major source of information for reconstructing Proto-Indo-European and Proto-Indo-Iranian history. In the pre-historic era, Proto-Indo-Iranian split into Proto-Iranian and Proto-Indo-Aryan and the two languages evolved independently of each other.

This shouldn't come as any surprise; words that represent very common, universal concepts are the least likely to change.
