Secondhand clothes are sign of ‘white privilege’, students told
September 29, 2021
Wearing second-hand clothes and swearing are now indicative of white privilege, according to a newly introduced course for students at the University of Kent.
Students at the university, regardless of the course they study or whether they are an undergraduate or a postgraduate, have been recommended a four-hour course covering topics such as white privilege, microaggressions and pronouns.
The ‘Expect Respect’ course is described by the university as outlining ‘the behaviour we expect of you while you’re with us’. It covers ‘issues of racism, bias, sexual harassment and consent’.
